Having changed hands in September 2007, The Duke Of Cornwall has improved 100% and is now doing extremely well in the trade. Tenants Paul and Shane have 20 years experience between them and it shows. Previously a business featured in Hidden places of Cornwall, the pub has had a new lease of life and is coming on in leaps and bounds.

The building was built in about the middle 19th Century, between 1845 and 1850 and it seems likely that it was in honour of the Duke that the house was named, in order to celebrate his birth in 1841. The building is fairly grand, however, and has been given a modernised décor to bring it in to the 21st Century. The dining area features comfortable leather seating and has a fireplace, creating a homely and inviting atmosphere.

Seating 26 people, the food served here is vast and of a good quality. The menu is extensive and features a number of starters, mains and desserts. Homemade soup of the day and prawn and crayfish tail cocktail are favourites to start, followed by the Duke's burger, made with 100% beef and a variety of toppings, Cornish rump steak, mushroom stroganoff and homemade chilli longboats, which are delicious. The selection of desserts are also extremely popular and the chocolate brownie share sundae, which is big enough for two is a favourite. The majority of the produce used to create the menu is sourced locally and the food is so good that The Duke of Cornwall were even awarded the winners of British Pie week, sponsored by Jus Rol. It was their Cornish steak and Tinners ale pie that won the prize.

There is also accommodation available here and Paul and Shane pride themselves on the high quality, good value accommodation that they provide. The prices are very competitive and stay the same all year round. From between £30 and £50 per night you are able to stay in a tastefully decorated room, suitable for single occupancy of double rooms, two of which have ensuite bathrooms and include a fantastic Cornish breakfast.

There is fantastic entertainment taking place at this location, including Pool team night on a Monday, quiz night on a Wednesday and an over 55's lunch club also, which boats a 2 course meal for just £4.95.
