Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre is one of the country's leading coastal geological visitor centres. The Centre's displays introduce the visitor to the amazing geology and fossils of the West Dorset coast. There are fossils for you to look at and touch, interactive fossil identification displays and a "fossil beach" to practice fossil hunting.

Two large aquariums house a variety of local marine life, while a computerised display lets you dive into Lyme Bay and discover the secrets of the underwater world. For a small charge you can visit the Jurassic Theatre and discover "Finding Fossils at Charmouth" or "Secrets of the Sea". A wide selection of books, postcards and gifts are on sale.

The Centre is run by three wardens who organise a series of guided walks throughout the season. As well as the popular fossil hunting walks, there are rockpooling sessions and walks in the local countryside. Details are available from the Centre or from the website.
