Llwyndu Farmhouse Hotel is a fine old building at the base of the Rhinog Mountains, overlooking Cardigan Bay, with stunning views over the Lleyn Peninsula. Hosts Paula and Peter Thompson assure guests of the warmest of welcomes, making every visitor feel instantly at home. The exposed stone walls, sturdy old beams, mullion windows, inglenook fireplaces and spiral staircase paint a delightfully traditional scene, and the six en suite bedrooms combine individual character with abundant comfort. Three are in the farmhouse (two with four-posters), three in the converted granary and barn. Peter is a very talented chef, and his 2- or 3-course dinners set great store by top-quality local produce (sea bass, lobster, Welsh Black beef) on Mediterranean-influenced menus that combine traditional and modern elements. His breakfasts are equally unmissable, with prime bacon and sausages, free-range eggs, juicy kippers and naturally smoked haddock among the options.
