Set in stunning countryside in the village of Llandderfel, close to Bala Lake, The Bryntirion Inn is a delightful old hostelry that dates back to 1695. It is owned and run by the cheerful duo of Martin and Linda who met when they worked for the Landmark Trust on Lundy Island. The Trust administers the only pub on the island and the duo eventually decided to branch out on their own.

It was in 2003 that they took over the Bryntirion Inn which is just 4 miles from Bala on the B4401. Their main aim, they say, has been to create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone (including dogs!), whatever their reason for visiting. The happy combination of a friendly ambience, good food, well-kept ales, a log fire in the winter and a sunny courtyard in the summer has proved to be a great success.

Linda looks after the front of house, and also does the office work. Martin is a qualified chef with more than 20 years experience. His menu is predominantly based on fresh local produce with dishes such as Braised shoulder of Welsh lamb with rosemary gravy, and Welsh black beef, mushroom and ale casserole served in a `Bryn Bara' featuring prominently on the menu. You'll also find Welsh beef and gammon steaks, as well as tasty fish, poultry and vegetarian dishes. Food is served from noon until 3pm, and from 6pm to 9pm, Monday to Saturday, and from noon until 8pm on Sunday. Booking is recommended on Saturday evenings. Meals can be enjoyed throughout the inn, in the rear courtyard or at tables at the front which command a lovely view.

Dating back to 1695, `The Bryn' serves real ales (including those local to the immediate area!), and from the award winning Purple Moose Brewery, a micro-brewery based in the historic harbour town of Porthmadog.

Even the car park is attractive at `The Bryn', surrounded as it is by gardens and a wood. There is also a heated outdoor smoking area. High chairs are available for young children and further popular features here include monthly quiz and music nights.

If you are planning to stop over when visiting this picturesque Dee Valley region of north Wales, the inn boasts 1 Double/Twin and 1 Double room available, both with en suite facilities and a hearty breakfast is included in the tariff. Children are welcome and all major credit cards apart from American Express and Diners are accepted.
