The Brecknock Wildlife Trust is part of the UK wide movement of county based Wildlife trusts. It is a registered charity operating in the county of old Breconshire, now the southern portion of Powys. To achieve its objectives of protecting wildlife and the habitats required for wildlife to thrive, the Trust owns and manages 18 nature reserves, provides advice to planners, landowners and farmers, operates species projects and promotes a greater understanding of wildlife and the environment through lifelong learning opportunities for adults and children.

The Brecknock Wildlife Trust is a membership organisation and its members play a significant role in carrying out the work of the Trust. In a voluntary capacity, members work with local schools, undertake practical projects on nature reserves and in the local community, carry out surveys, adopt local roadside verges and campaign for wildlife.
