Since taking over here in 2008, owner Louise and cook Caroline have quickly built up a fantastic reputation for selling quality products at affordable prices. In a town-centre pedestrian street, with plenty of parking nearby, Lou's Delicatessen is a paradise for food-lovers, and serious foodies find it hard to walk past the mouth-watering window display. Louise and Caroline are passionate and enthusiastic about good food, either cooked on the premises or sourced from select producers, with the emphasis on Welsh goods. Caroline gets up at 6 in the morning to bake her super pies, including corned beef and chicken & ham, that are among the favourites in this outstanding deli. Other goodies include Welsh and Continental cheeses, specialist pasta, Emily's jams and pickles, Daffodil Cottage oat cakes, Laver Bread fudge, Italian olive oils, Welsh honey, Doves Farm award-winning bread, locally hand-made chocolates and the superb produce of Ogmore Farm and the Garlic Farm. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, and food allergies can be catered for. Lou's can supply hampers (including organic) either ready assembled from their wicker-basket range or to special order, and local bakers make lovely celebration cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and other special occasions. |
