Nestled between seven hills right on the Welsh/English border, Abergavenny truly is a `Gateway To Wales'. An ideal base for exploring the Brecon Beacons, Abergavenny has much to offer tourists - a blend of old and new, with activities and things to do to suit young and old alike. This ancient and welcoming town is the ideal centre for a truly wonderful, refreshing holiday, whether it be a short break at any time of the year or a longer leisurely stay.

And B&B accommodation doesn't come better than at Pentre Court. This small Georgian country house is beautifully set in 4 acres of well-wooded gardens and paddock through which runs the stream Nantiago. Adjacent to the house are footpaths to the River Usk and Sugar Loaf Mountain. It is an excellent base for fishing, sailing, golf, pony-trekking, hang-gliding and grass-skiing.

Accommodation includes en-suite bedrooms, central heating, a dining room and drawing room with open fire and colour TV. The drawing room provides a comfortable bright area for guests to mingle, watch television, read or plan the next day's excursions. In the garden is a heated swimming pool with diving board, changing room and sun terrace.

Meals include a typical British or Continental breakfast served in a dining room furnished with interesting antiques. Evening meals or dinner parties can be provided by prior arrangement and packed lunches and special dietary needs can be accommodated. All meals feature local produce wherever possible, and this area is famous for the quality of its produce. The Abergavenny Food Festival transforms this sleepy market town into a vibrant venue for the sampling of fine fare.

Within a short drive of Abergavenny are numerous castles, the most notable being Raglan, Chepstow and White Castle. Each one is set in a beautiful location and ideal for picnics. Only ten minutes away is the Big Pit at Blaenavon, a shaft coalmine dating back to the 1840s, and also an Ironworks dating back to the 1780s. There are extensive Roman remains at Caerleon, with a fine modern museum.

All in all, a stay at Pentre Court can fulfil all you holiday desires or simply feel like a break away from it all - you can almost feel time slowing down as you unwind and take in the fresh mountain air and some of the most picturesque landscape to be found in the UK.
