Owner Clare Lockwood offers home cooking at its best at Coffee Junction, a recently converted café with a neat, bright, practical modern interior and seats for 35. The day gets off to a flying start with a generous traditional cooked breakfast, and the menu, supplemented by daily specials, provides plenty of choice for appetites large and small. The top-quality meat, which comes from a high-class local butcher, is the basis of some of the favourite dishes, which include a steak pie made with Welsh Black beef and a satisfying plate of ham with eggs (free-range, of course) and chips. Old-fashioned syrup sponge pudding is a delicious way to end a meal, and there's always a tempting array of other home-baked goodies, among them carrot cake, Victoria sponge and chocolate brownies to compliment the freshly brewed coffee. A takeaway service is available for most of the items on the menu. Coffee Junction is open from 9 to 4 Monday to Friday and from 9 to 3 on Saturday. Clare has quickly built up a large and growing following among the locals, but her café is also popular with tourists, holidaymakers and motorists - it's just seconds from Junction 19 of the A55 coastal road.Follow the Llandudno junction (A547) signs. It is just a short drive to the fringe of Snowdonia National Park, the nearest beach and Conwy Castle. |
