Grange Lodge is a lovely old Georgian house
with origins dating back to 1698. It's the home of Norah and Ralph Brown, a genuinely warm
and hospitable couple who welcome bed &
breakfast guests to their peaceful retreat. "Space and air" they say "are the main features of the house".
The public rooms are full of character and the bedrooms are individually styled and decoratively
furnished. Each has an en suite bath or shower room, "windows you can open should you feel like a breath
of unpolluted Irish air", and lots of thoughtful little extras. Guests have the use of a spacious
drawing room overlooking the beautifully tended gardens, and
there's also a TV lounge.
A major attraction at Grange Lodge is the excellent
food. Norah claims to be only a simple cook but she has won
many awards for her cuisine and Rick Stein has named her as one
of his "Food Heroes". Her regular "Cook with Norah"
sessions are immensely popular more details can be found on
the Lodge's website. If you are staying at the Lodge, booking
the optional evening meal is strongly recommended. And
at breakfast time, do sample Ralph's famous `Bushmills
Porridge' which is laced generously with Bushmills whiskey, cream
and brown sugar. A grand start to the day!
