An imposing country house standing in extensive grounds,
Tyrella House is a member of The Hidden Ireland a unique collection of historic private houses which offer stylish accommodation and
great Irish hospitality at an affordable price. Tyrella House is hidden away beneath the Mourne
Mountains and sheltered from the sea breezes by tall beech woods. The house's grasslands sweep down to
a private sandy beach. Tyrella is a wonderful place in which to relax and enjoy delicious dinners,
perhaps of home-grown lamb and vegetables from the garden.
It's also a great place for equestrians kennels and stables are available and guests can ride
over one of the cross-country courses or gallop along the sandy beach that stretches for miles in
either direction. Tyrella even has its own polo ground; lessons or chukkas
are available. For lovers of gardening or architecture, there are National
Trust properties at Mountstewart,, Castleward and Rowallane; golfers
are well served at the Royal County Down course in Newcastle; fishing can
also be arranged. The house is open from February
1st to November 30th, but please note that Tyrella is
unsuitable for children. Visa and Amex credit cards are accepted.
