"The friendliest place in Ireland" is just one of
many appreciative comments in the visitors' book at
Parklands Farmhouse. Beautifully sited at the foot of Knockagh
Hill and overlooking Belfast Lough, Parklands is a
family-owned farm with lots of farm animals wandering around and a large boating pond complete with
ducks. Owner Mrs Eunice Sherratt is a member of ARK, the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, so the animals are
very well looked after. So too are the guests! In a converted barn there's a snooker table and a large
collection of antiques, collectables and furniture for sale.
In the recently refurbished traditional Ulster
farmhouse, (which is completely non-smoking), guests have the use
of a spacious lounge and the 3 guest bedrooms are
all equipped with TV, hospitality tray and hair-dryer.
One room has en suite facilities. At breakfast time, there's
a choice of an Ulster, Irish or continental breakfast
served with the farm's own free range eggs, and home-made
breads and preserves. Children are welcome at Parklands, as
are cats, dogs and horses the farm has its own stables
with variously sized stalls. Seasonal grazing is available
and there's also a barn, tack room and floodlit outdoor arena.
