An excellent place to stay in the historic village of Saul is
the Swan Lodge Country House, a spacious modern building
with a graceful conservatory and large gardens complete with
a children's play area and barbecue site. Swan Lodge is the
home of Liz and John McMorris who have a truly Irish flair
for hospitality. Breakfast is served in the charming dining
room with its splendid views and the menu offers a wide choice that includes a full Irish breakfast,
omelettes, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and
something you w on't find on many breakfast menus warm
peaches on French toast with a liqueur sauce. Homemade
wheaten and soda bread, homemade jams and marmalades are
all part of the wholesome fare on offer.
Evening meals are also available Liz's salmon
dishes enjoy a reputation second to none. Packed lunches
are also available if required. Swan Lodge has four
guest rooms, all en suite, and its location makes it perfect
for exploring this part of Co. Down which, in addition to
its associations with St Patrick, offers many other places
of interest Inch Abbey and the Ballynae Stone Circle
to mention just two.
